Women's soccer drops home match to No. 21 West Chester

MILLERSVILLE, Pa. – Millersville dropped a home game Saturday night to visiting No. 21 West Chester by a score of 2-0. 

West Chester (10-2-1, 10-2-1 PSAC East) started the scoring less than two minutes in to regulation. Maggie Lena bent a ball into the top right corner of the goal to give her team the first lead. Millersville (5-5-3, 5-5-2 PSAC East) recorded three shots on goal in the first half, but none were able to make it past keeper Hayley McGee who was stellar on the night. 

The Golden Rams scored an insurance goal eleven minutes in to the second half of play, curtsey of Gabrielle White. The Marauders fired three more shots on goal the rest of the half but couldn't manage to find the back of the net which resulted in a 2-0 win for the No. 21 team in the nation. 

The Marauders still hold sole possession of the No. 4 spot in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) East standings with four games remaining in the regular season. 

POST GAME REACTION FROM HEAD COACH MATT PROCOPIO 
 On the overall play: "I think we played okay but were second to many balls and were unable to score a goal. They capitalized on two very good opportunities and made it difficult for us. We continued to try and find the goals but just couldn't get one."

• Take away from the match: "We need to self reflect on the areas we need to be better in. They're are a playoff team, so it is a good measurement."

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
• The teams came out even in shots with 12 each. Millersville held the edge in shots on goal, 8-7.  
• The Marauders held a 5-4 edge on corners.  
• Elwell led the team with three shots on goal with two. Six other Marauders sent in shots on goal throughout the match. 
• Kolinski made four saves in the loss.

• Millersville currently sits at No. 4 in the PSAC East standings.
