MILLERSVILLE, Pa. -
James Sullivan scored 25 points and Millersville made the most of its trips to the free throw line to pull away from a feisty Mansfield team 81-74 Saturday in Pucillo Gymnasium.
Millersville (13-12, 10-9 PSAC) did not make a field goal in the final six minutes but sank 13-of-16 foul shots down the stretch to overcome 34.8 percent shooting from the field over the final 20 minutes. Sullivan's 8-of-14 shooting with five threes led four Marauders in double figures.
Caden Najdawi scored all 15 of his points in the first half and did not play in the second.
Khari Williams scored seven of his 14 at the free throw line in the last three minutes.
The Marauders' win snapped a three-game losing streak and put them a half-game behind West Chester for the No. 3 seed in the PSAC East with three regular season games remaining.

HOW IT HAPPENEDÂ
• Millersville led by as many as 12 and held a 38-30 lead with fewer than five minutes remaining in the first half when Mansfield took advantage of three consecutive Millersville turnovers to string together a 9-0 run and take its first lead of the game. The teams went to the locker room tied at 41. Mansfield shot 53.3 percent from the field while Millersville made 54.8 percent.
• Millersville spent the bulk of the first half working the ball into the low post to Najdawi, who responded by making 7-of-9 field goals. But the Marauders were forced to adjust without Najdawi, who exited late in the first half after diving out of bounds for a loose ball.
Ryan Davis gave the Marauders' a lift, especially on defense as the team switched to a trapping press that limited the Mountaineers to two second-half 3-pointers after they made six in the first. Davis blocked a shot, recorded two steals, grabbed four rebounds and made both 3-pointer attempts in the second half.
• Millersville trailed 54-52 with just under 13 minutes left, but
Mekhi Hendricks tied the game with a fastbreak lay-up. Then, with 11:32 left, Davis sank a foul shot to put the Marauders in front. They never relinquished the lead. Davis banked in a 3-pointer with 6:12 to play to put Millersville up 68-60, and that was Millersville's last field goal of the game. Millersville stayed in front by converting its free throws. Mansfield pulled within 70-68 with 3:40 to play, but Hendricks and Williams combined for four consecutive makes while Mansfield missed its next three field goal attempts and three of its following four free throws. Millersville made six more free throws between the 43-second mark and 21-second mark to keep the lead.

• Williams also led Millersville with seven rebounds and seven assists. Hendricks chipped in 10 points.
POSTGAME REACTION FROM HEAD COACH CASEY STITZEL
•
On adjusting with Najdawi in the second half: "I thought in the beginning of the half we went to some sets and got a couple of threes that got James going. Then we did a good job spreading them out since we were smaller. We did a better job with penetrate and kick. We got to the foul line and opened it up at the foul line at the end. It wasn't pretty, but usually trying to get that W off a losing streak isn't pretty."
•
On switching to the press: "I'm a press guy but we haven't been able to press that much because our depth has been hurt so much. We took it easy the last couple of days at practice because guys were getting worn down. I was hoping we had that gut-check energy with that group and be able to press. They did a great job. Ryan's energy off the bench might have been the key to the whole game. He made the press look good and made some really nice plays in transition. He was huge off the bench."
NOTESÂ
• Sullivan's 25 was his third-highest point total of the season and his fifth game with 20 or more points.Â
• Williams matched a career-high in assists.
• Millersville has won six in a row and 11 of 12 against Mansfield.
