MILLERSVILLE, Pa. – The No. 1 Millersville field hockey team shut out Mercyhurst 5-0 Sunday afternoon on Chryst Field at Biemesderfer Stadium.

The Marauders improve to 6-0 this season with four shutouts and three wins over top-five ranked teams.

The game between the Marauders and the Lakers marks the end of non-conference play for the Marauders.

MATCH HIGHLIGHTS
•Erica Tarsi spun off the defensive effort from the Lakers getting off a backhanded shot from the ground for the Marauders first goal three minutes into play.
•The Marauders broke the game open in the third with three goals. Annabelle Tierney scored the first goal of the third quarter, finding the left corner of the cage off a cross out front from Hannah Brown.
•Asia Weaver found the back of the cage for the third time this season off a corner after a pass at the top of the circle from Hannah Brown that put Weaver in prime scoring position. That gave the Marauders a 3-0 advantage.
• Brown set up the ball a second time off a corner with just under five minutes left in the quarter, finding Tarsi across the circle for the fourth Marauder goal.
• Back-to-back corners with shots from Jordan Goddard and Pili Zaballa drew out the goalkeeper and allowed Meredith Fagan to scoop up a rebound and find the back of the cage to seal the deal with Millersville's fifth goal.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
• The Marauders outshot the Lakers 27-2, sending 15 shots to the cage. The Marauder defense protected the circle, not allowing a single shot toward the Millersville goal.
• Millersville forced 10 penalty corners to Mercyhurst's three.
• Bridget Elison and Catie Brubaker both saw time in the goal. Autumn Peters was the starter and defended the cage for 39 minutes.
• Tierney and Fagan's goals mark their first of the season while Weaver's goal was her third and Tarsi's two bumped her to five.

NOTES
• Tarsi's five goals and two assists this season bump her into fourth on the career-scoring leaders chart with 87 career-points. Tarsi also moves into fifth for career-goals scored with 35 surpassing former Marauder Aliza Mizak at 34.
• The Marauders are now 17-4 in the series against Mercyhurst holding a 15-game winning streak.
• Millersville now holds shutouts in its last two meetings with Mercyhurst.
•Shelly Behrens is 14-0 against the Lakers.
