MILLERSVILLE, Pa. -  The Marauders welcome the Kutztown Golden Bears to Pucillo Field on Wednesday evening, the first of two meetings in 2019 thanks to the PSAC division realignment. Both teams are unbeaten at 1-0.

ABOUT THE MARAUDERS
  • Millersville's offense ignited for eight goals in last Thursday's 8-0 opening game victory over Salem University. The Marauders lead the entire PSAC in goals scored.
  • Junior forward Talia Grynkewicz scored a school-record four goals in the first half against Salem, giving her 20 career goals and moving her into sixth place on the all-time Millersville goals list. Teammate and strike partner Kay Liebl is second on that list with 29 career goals, just three shy of the all-time record held by Becky Morris.
  • 26 different Marauders saw action in the season opener. 16 of them fired off at least one shot. Three freshmen were responsible for the rest of the Millersville goals; Michelle Belcher scored a brace while Juliana Carrara and Bailey Hunt each added a late second half goal.
  • Millersville launched 43 total shots in the opening game. That number leads the PSAC (the next highest total is East Stroudsburg with 35 shots in its opener.)

LAST YEAR'S GAME
  • Kutztown defeated then-unbeaten Millersville 2-1. Emily Zwiercan scored just 50 seconds into the game for the Golden Bears, with Maddie Mohr adding a second goal in the 10th minute.
  • Millersville's second half charge was not quite enough. Kay Liebl scored in the 50th minute to make it a one-goal game but Kutztown goalkeeper Jenna Bracken parried away 11 shots in the game to secure victory.
  • Kutztown out-shot Millersville 8-4 in the first half; Millersville shot 20 times to Kutztown's 3 in the second half.

SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
  • Kutztown defeated Charleston in the first game of the season 3-0 despite being outshot by Charleston 10-9.
  • Senior Emily Zwiercan scored in the 17th minute, and Maggie Cecare came on as a substitute to score twice (in the 80th and 87th minute.)
  • The Golden Bears are looking to follow up on a successful season that saw them nationally ranked and finish with a record of 14-4-2. Zwiercan returns to lead the Kutztown offense (11 goals, 25 points and 94 shots in 2018.) Seven of those goals were game-winning, the high mark for the entire PSAC.
  • Senior goalkeeper Jenna Bracken is back minding the net for Kutztown. She made 78 saves in 2018, with a goals against average of .39. That mark was lowest in the PSAC while her save total was the highest.
