Women's tennis earns first PSAC win of the season at Kutztown, 6-1

Kutztown, Pa. - The Millersville University women's tennis team dominated in its first Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) victory of the season, a 6-1 win at Kutztown. The Marauders swept doubles and the one singles match they lost went three sets.

Millersville (4-13, 1-1 PSAC) has won its last six matches against the Golden Bears dating back to 2015, while Kutztown (3-9, 1-2 PSAC) falls to 0-4 at home this season.

MATCH HIGHLIGHTS
Corinne Grohoski and Megan Rovenolt began the match with a 6-0 sweep at flight two doubles, and a 6-2 win at flight one doubles by Katina Jones and Jasmine Morris clinched the doubles point for the Marauders. Kelsey Heckert and Victoria Hanus won their flight three doubles match, 6-2, for good measure.
• Jones rolled to a 6-0, 6-1 win at flight one singles, while Heckert cruised to a 6-1, 6-1 victory at flight three singles. Grohoski and Lauren Weaver also defeated their opponents with relative ease, with Grohoski winning 6-4, 6-0 at flight fives singles and Weaver coming out victorious, 6-2, 6-2 at flight six singles. Weaver's win clinched the match in Millersville's favor.
• There was some drama at Morris' flight two singles match. After dropping the first set, 6-4, she bounced back to take the second set, 6-1, and narrowly edged her opponent in a nail-biting final set, 11-9. Hanus' flight four singles match also went three sets. She barely lost the first set, 7-5, but dominated the second set, 6-1, before falling in the final set, 10-3.
