Women's tennis nearly knocks off Bloomsburg in very close 4-3 PSAC Quarterfinals loss

Bloomsburg, Pa. - After losing the doubles point and being down 3-1, the Millersville University women's tennis team battled back to tie the match, 3-3, with the decision coming down to the flight three singles match. Kelsey Heckert battled very tough in the match, dropping the first set, 6-2, before battling back to take the second set, 6-4, but ultimately dropping the final set, 6-3.

The Marauders (9-16, 3-2 PSAC) were making their first playoff appearance since 2016, while the Huskies (15-2, 4-1 PSAC) advance to face Slippery Rock in the semifinal round on Friday, May 3.

MATCH HIGHLIGHTS
• Heckert teamed up with Victoria Hanus to win at flight three doubles, 6-4, but Millersville lost the previous two doubles matches as Bloomsburg entered singles play with a 1-0 lead.
Corinne Grohoski got the Marauders on the board with a 6-4, 6-4 win at flight six singles, her fifth win in her last six singles matches. With Millersville's backs against the wall, Katina Jones kept her team's hopes alive with a very close 7-5, 7-5 win at flight one singles, and Hanus followed with a very close win of her own, 3-6, 6-4, 6-0, at flight four singles to tie the match.
Megan Rovenolt played very well in her first singles match since March 30, losing a tight 7-6 (7-1), 6-1 match at flight five singles.

• This also marks just the fifth time this season the Huskies surrendered at least three points in a match.
