Two Marauders pick up wins in 37-6 loss to Seton Hill

| By:
MILLERSVILLE, Pa. – The Millersville Marauders' wrestling lineup was again composed of all freshmen and sophomores as the team battled Seton Hill in its second dual meet in four days. 141-pounder Ryan McGuire and 157 pound freshman Brandon Connor both won their bouts. Seton Hill started quickly and held on for the 37-6 victory. The young Millersville lineup showed promise and were involved in very close matches that could have swung either way. The Marauders closed the gap in the team score to 13-6 after Connor's victory but the Griffins pulled away after that.

It was the first dual meet of the season for the Seton Hill.

DUAL MEET HIGHLIGHTS
• Ryan McGuire took on Joel Cawoski at 141 pounds. McGuire used a single leg shot to earn a takedown in the first and followed it up with a reversal in the second period and another takedown in the third to earn the 6-4 decision.
• Jackson Erb and Austin Shaw wrestled a wild match at 149. Erb scored two takedowns in in the first period, including one just on the edge of the circle with about 30 seconds left to go in the first. Erb took the lead in the second period 7-6 with a reversal but the match ended 8-8 after the third. Shaw had more than a minute of riding time, though, earning that critical riding time point to win the match 9-8.
• The very next bout at 157 featured freshman Brandon Connor and Tyler Alberts. The two wrestled an incredibly close bout, with Alberts leading 3-2 in the third period. Connor shot and picked the ankle that led to a takedown and a 4-3 lead. Alberts was able to escape to force overtime. Connor had just enough gas left in the tank, earning a takedown to win in sudden victory 6-4.

• On the performances of Brandon Connor and Jackson Erb: "That's what we're looking for. Guys like that to fight. Whether you get that takedown in overtime like Brandon did or wrestle like Jackson, where it could have been a win or a loss. I see those performances are pretty equal, those guys are battling and controlling the pace of their matches and adjusting."

• On what must be done before the next dual meet: "Keep moving forward. The mountains are tall and steep. We have to keep putting one foot in front of the other."

• Ryan McGuire's victory was his fifth of 2019 and moves his season record to 5-2.
