Women’s swimming drops meet against California, 73-57

CALIFORNIA, Pa. – The Millersville women's swim team claimed first in four events in the dual meet at California University of Pennsylvania, but came up just short of defeating the Vulcans dropping the meet 73-57 on Friday evening. Madisson Cartmill saw two victories while Jessica Berry recorded one.
 
Cartmill posted PSAC-qualifying times in both the 200-yard freestyle (2:00.68) and the 100-yard freestyle (55.67). Cartmill's time in the 200 free marks a new career-best for the senior and is the ninth-fastest time in program history. She has reached PSAC cuts four times so far this season.
 
Berry came close to a PSAC qualifying time in the 200-yard breaststroke touching the wall in 2:40.64 besting teammates Amanda Simon and Eryn Bartlett who posted times of 2:47.87 and 2:51.60, respectively.
 
Alexis Shollenberger and Lucia Martin joined Cartmill and Simon in the 400-yard freestyle relay. The squad posted a 4:11.70 to claim the first place finish.
 
"We had some very solid swims for this time of season," said head coach Eric Usbeck. "We will use this opportunity to refocus and continue to learn from each and every time we get in the pool."
 
The Marauders return to the pool on Saturday, November 9 on the road to face Kutztown at 1 p.m.
