Marauders bounce back, finish 2019 with victory

MILLERSVILLE, Pa. - Sometimes the best thing that can happen for a team following a loss is to get right back on the court.

The Millersville University women's tennis team (6-1) had no time to dwell or sulk following its first team loss of the season. The Marauders took the court Sunday for the final time in 2019 and walked away with a victory, defeating Seton Hill, 6-1.

Sunday's contest concluded a successful fall season for the Marauders. The team's six wins is already second-most under head coach Matt Helsel.

MATCH HIGHLIGHTS
• Millersville's success came in singles action. Kelsey Heckert got the Marauders going in flight four with a straight set victory, dropping just one point in the process.
• For the second consecutive day, Hannah Bryan went three sets in flight three singles. This time, however, she sealed the deal. After taking the first set but dropping the second, the freshman from Philadelphia dominated in the third set to win the match, 6-4, 1-6, 10-2.
Esperanza Contador bounced back with a strong performance in flight one singles, defeating junior Cameron Beer in straight sets.
Julie Wallace also ended the calendar season with a solid showing, winning in straight sets in flight two, 6-2, 6-0.
• Millersville faced a shorthanded Seton Hill team. The Griffins had to forfeit at flights five and six in singles action and flight three in doubles.
• Seton Hill was able to win two matches at flight one and two in doubles, grabbing the point.
