Ciaran Dalton '00 is one of seven members of the 2018 Millersville University Athletics Hall of Fame class The entire 2018 hall of fame class will be recognized at the induction dinner and ceremony on Friday, Oct. 12 at 6 p.m. in the Lehr Room of Gordinier Hall. A prolific offensive performer for Millersville from 1995-98, Ciaran Dalton was a three-time All-PSAC performer, earning first team honors as well as All-Mid-Atlantic Region recognition as a senior.
18 years after his graduation Dalton still ranks second at Millersville in career points with 105 and second in career goals with 43, trailing only hall of famer and former teammate Sean Szerba. Dalton provided Szerba with plenty of helpers as he totaled 19 career assists—a total that ranks sixth all-time and was a school record when he graduated.
Dalton and Szerba combined to form inarguably the most productive attack in Millersville history. As a senior captain in 1998, Dalton delivered 44 points on 18 goals and eight assists—a total surpassed only by Szerba's 52 in the same season. Dalton's 18 goal total still ranks fourth all-time, and his eight assists that season ranked second when he graduated and stands in a tie for eighth today.
Dalton's 14 goals as a sophomore in 1996 was at the time the second-most in program history. A testament to his ability, Dalton and hall of famer Sean McLaughlin are the only Marauders to rank in the top six in career goals and assists.
In his final two seasons, Dalton's Marauders posted a combined 27-13-2 record. He helped his club to the PSAC Semifinals in 1997 and then guided it to a PSAC Runner-Up finish during his senior season of 1998. It was Millersville's best postseason finish in eight years, and the 14 wins accumulated during that season stood as a school record for a decade. Following graduation, Dalton played professional in Ireland for the Cobh Ramblers.
Dalton graduated with a bachelor's degree in special education in 2000. He went on to earn a master's degree from Temple in 2003, and earned a Psy.D. in clinical psychology from Immaculata in 2011. Dalton is a licensed clinical psychologist, working as an emotional support teacher while serving as an assistant men's soccer coach at Swarthmore College. He has helped Swarthmore to a pair of conference championships and four NCAA Tournament appearances.
