Marauders' season ends in NCAA Atlantic Regional

West Lawn, Pa. - Millersville baseball was one of just three NCAA Atlantic Region teams standing before its season came to a close following Monday's 5-0 loss to Seton Hill. The Marauders came within one win of its fourth regional championship round appearance since 2011 but could not solve Seton Hill starter Michael Bryja for the second time in the postseason.

Bryja (6-1) had Millersville's number once again. The redshirt freshman previously notched a win over Millersville in the PSAC Championship game, and on Monday, he went the distance, allowing just five hits and walking one. The Griffins led 2-0 when Millersville starter Eli Nabholz (8-4)--working on three days rest--exited after 5 1/3 innings. They added three in the bottom of the seventh to give Bryja some more breathing room.

Millersville won four games in come-from-behind fashion in the postseason, but Bryja out-matched the Marauders' hitters in their limited run-scoring opportunities. Millersville put a runner on base in six of the first seven innings and the leadoff hitter reached in the second, fourth and fifth innings. Manning Brookens, who totaled 11 hits in the five regional games, doubled to left to start the fifth but was stranded at third. Jimmy Cain hit a one-out triple in the sixth but was left at third. In the seventh, Eric Callahan hit a two-out double, but the Marauders could not advance him.

Seton Hill had won 10 consecutive games prior to an extra-inning loss to Mercyhurst Sunday afternoon. The lineup totaled 10 hits. Mark Colella hit a solo home run in the sixth.

Millersville's 2018 season included a 37-20 record, a fourth PSAC Championship game appearance in five years and a sixth consecutive regional berth. The Marauders graduate three seniors in Ted Williams, Stephen Muscovitch and Dylan Boisclair, who were all contributors to four NCAA regional appearances, a regional title in 2016 and a PSAC Championship in 2015. Williams leaves Millersville as the career walks leader.

Ben Snyder's 19 doubles ties him for the fourth-most in a single season at Millersville. He also drew 40 walks, which is tied for third all-time. Eli Nabholz, the PSAC East Pitcher of the Year, posted the second-most shutouts (3), fourth-most strikeouts (92) and fifth-most innings pitched (90.1).
