Kutztown, Pa. – Sophomore
Rebecca Blatt broke Millersville's single-season home run record with a three-run home run in the second game of Friday's doubleheader against Kutztown. The Marauders won game one 8-5 and then took game two, 7-5.
The Marauders improved to 14-11, 3-1 PSAC East. After Friday's two road wins, the team's road record improved to 6-2. Millersville recorded 13 hits in game one while adding one more in the second game (14).
Freshman
Faith Willenbrock went 5 for 7 and hit her third triple of the season. Willenbrock extended her hitting streak to 12 games. In the second game, Willenbrock had three hits for her fifth three-game of the season.Â

Kaelyn Buskey's hits in the top of the third and fifth innings were essential to extending Millersville's lead to a safe distance. Buskey tripled to right center to bring in two runs increasing the lead to 5-2. Buskey later doubled to center field to score pinch runner
Ally Kerr to make it 6-2 in the top of the fifth inning.
Morgan Almodovar scored on a throwing error in the sixth, extending the Marauders' lead to 7-3. Junior
Maggie Murphy singled to left field to score freshman
Allie Janowiak to make it 8-3. Almodovar also had a sac-fly to right field in the second.Â
The Marauders started the game with a two-run inning that began with Willenbrock tripling in Janowiak for the first run of the game. Murphy singled to right field to bring in Willenbrock.
A key defensive moment of the game was in the bottom of the fifth inning when the Marauders were faced with bases loaded and no outs. Almodovar gathered a ground ball, threw home for the force out, and the the next two batters lined out to end the inning.Â
Catherine Johnson pitched a complete game, allowing 13 hits and two walks. Johnson gained her sixth win of the season and fifth complete game. She improved her ERA to 3.30.
GAME 2
With Millersville leading 4-2 in the sixth, Blatt put the game out of reach when she hit her record-setting, three-run home run. With the blast, she passed Meghan Sinback and Jordan Sheffield and current teammate
Faith Willenbrock in the standings. In the bottom of the seventh inning, the Golden Bears managed to decrease the margin back to two runs with a three-run home run by Alyssa Donato, but they drew no closer.Â
Millersville scored two in the first inning and added another in the third on a fielding error. Willenbrock doubled in a run to give Millersville a 4-1 lead.Â
Senior pitcher
Cassidy Pinchorski struck out four batters in 6 2/3 innings. After the late three-run home run by Kutztown, Pinchorski was relieved by sophomore
Emma Bevard. Bevard earned her first save of the season.
Four Marauders had two or more hits. Willenbrock led the hitting by going 3 for 4 with one RBI. Almodvar and Blatt went 2 for 4 with senior
Raeann Buskey going 2 for 5.
