
Millersville field hockey to host several camps, clinics and play days

Millersville, Pa. – Millersville University field hockey has announced several camps and clinics for aspiring field hockey players. Millersville will also host a youth and high school play day for teams and individuals.
The camps, clinics and play days are available for a multitude of ages ranging from grade school to high school.
The 2018 MU-RAD Field Hockey Camp will run at the same time as the Field Hockey Kids Camp, taking place July 6-8 of 2018.
The MU-RAD camp is open to all individuals in grades 7-12. In this camp, a fun and competitive environment is fostered in an attempt to help player's learn and grow. In addition to learning new skills, campers will learn about college recruitment, team building and will have the opportunity to listen to prominent guest speakers. Participants will also enjoy play under the lights and will have access to the camp store, which will have hockey gear and food. Players will be housed in air conditioned dorm rooms at Millersville.
For younger athletes (grades 2-6) there is the Field Hockey Kids Camp July 6-8. Supervision will be provided at all times and lunch is included for morning session players as well as for morning and afternoon players. Each camper will receive a Camp shirt and will have fun while learning more about field hockey. Millersville's own head coach Shelly Behrens will be one of the many coaches helping with the program.
Millersville will also host the Magic Goalies Goalkeeper and Field Player Camp from July 5-6. Professional goalkeeper coach Heiko Milz will help coach goalies at this camp. Furthermore, Andre Henning, who helped coach Germany's bronze medal winning team, will help players to improve their basic skills, goal scoring, defense, and more.
The Eastern Field Hockey Camp runs from July 23-25 and is open to girls ages 12-18 of all abilities. Campers will work on fundamentals and develop more honed mechanics through drills, games and competitive play. For overnight campers, meals and housing are part of the cost. For extended day campers, players receive lunch and dinner. All campers receive a STX package that includes a reversible jersey, ball, water bottle and lanyard.
Millersville will also be offering clinics including the 12 & Under Free Kids Clinic and the Play, Compete & Shoot-N-Save Talent Clinic Day. Each are one day events occurring Sunday, April 8. The 12 & Under Free Kids Clinic will help beginner's learn more about what makes field hockey so exciting and fun and will be led by the Millersville team and coaches.
Play, Compete & Shoot-N-Save Talent Clinic Day on April 8 will feature tons and tons of playing. There will be three-on-three matchups, as well as five-on-five play and seven-on-seven competition. Also, goalkeepers will get individual attention and plenty of opportunities to play.
The first of two play dates hosted by the Millersville program is the 7 Aside PlayDay which takes place Sunday, April 15. Teams will be sorted into age brackets and will play at least four games. There will be an athletic trainer onsite for the fun-filled day of games. The second play day is for U19 and U16. Again, teams are guaranteed at least four games.
