Lancaster, Pa. -- Millersville standout midfielder Kay Liebl signed with United Women's Soccer club, Lancaster Inferno Tuesday night.
Liebl joins the Inferno following a breakout sophomore season for the Marauders. The midfielder led the team with 17 points and eight goals in 2017, and she scored the single-most goals in a Millersville kit since Halie Parker's 12 goals in 2015. The Ephrata, Pa. native ranked tied for sixth in the conference in goals as well as tied for eighth in points.
Liebl was a clutch performer in several Millersville wins as she scored a team-high two game-winning goals. Her only assist of the season was on freshman Talia Grynkewicz's game-winning goal against Lock Haven.
For her efforts this season, Liebl earned D2CCA Atlantic Region All-Region Second Team honors and All-PSAC Second Team honors.
Liebl will join the Inferno following the conclusion of the spring semester. The Lancaster Inferno competes in the UWS's East Conference, and Liebl will be very familiar with the Inferno's home pitch. The team competes at Millersville's Pucillo Field during its season.
The UWS is a national women's soccer league sanctioned by U.S. Soccer through the United States Adult Soccer Association (USASA). UWS is a professionally operated league created for teams that meet high minimum standards. The season runs from May until the end of July, culminating in a National Championship match. The UWS player pool is comprised of college players, aspiring & former professionals and international stars.
Liebl spends her soccer offseason donning a Millersville track and field uniform. She competed for the Marauders in the 2018 PSAC Indoor Track and Field Championships in the 60-meter dash, the 4x400 relay, and the long jump. She is expected to make contributions for the outdoor track and field team as it started its season on March 28. Liebl competed in the long jump at the York Twilight Meet as her signing was announced by the Inferno.
