
Fusco crushes school record on the final day of PSACs

York, Pa. – Senior Emily Fusco recorded another school record in the 200-yard backstroke on the final day of the 2018 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Championships. Millersville concluded the championships in 10th place with 300.5 points.
In her preliminary 200 backstroke swim, Fusco shattered the school record by recording a 2:04.42, tying for fourth in the race. The final featured Fusco placing sixth with a time of 2:04.88.
Sophomore Madisson Cartmill hit the wall at a time of 2:06.24 in her preliminary 200 backstroke race, earning a spot in the finals. In the finals, Cartmill could not come up with a faster time than her prelims time. Cartmill went 2:08.63, two seconds slower than her prelim time and placed 14th.
Freshman Alexis Shollenberger broke her career best in the prelims (2:11.33)--the fourth-fastest time in program history. Shollenberger was 0.01 slower than her prelim time in the finals with a time of 2:11.34.
In the 200-yard breaststroke final, junior Mariana Bernal came in with a time of 2:29.76, breaking her previous career best at 2:30.43 which she swam in the prelims. Bernal moved up to the third-fastest time in program history. Bernal recorded a new career best by two seconds.
With an 18:49.16 in the 1,650-yard freestyle, sophomore Jessica Berry finished 22nd.
The Marauders set a new season best in the 400-yard freestyle relay with a time of 3:39.53, two seconds faster than previous time. The relay team included junior Amanda Wetzler, Shollenberger, sophomore Mallory Dyson and freshman Leah Barrett. This time put the group in sixth-fastest freestyle relay time in program history.
