COACH SHELLY BEHRENS QUOTES
• "IUP is such a tough team. The PSAC always features such great field hockey. Some days if you make one mistake, that's it. IUP came ready to play and so did we. We played well in the first half until they scored on us. Then we sat back a little after that. I gave them a good talk at halftime and challenged them to be more proactive. It's great to get our first home win and we're ready for more PSAC field hockey."
• "Sometimes the things
Erica Tarsi does are so shocking to me, but her teammates set her up really well today. I thought
Emma Boutcher played really well today.
Asia Weaver off the bench was a great spark, and Niamh Murphy-O'Neil was, too. I think Eria could have had a few more goals, but it took us some time to make some adjustments. Her game-winning goal was great, I loved how she managed to get around their goalkeeper. We're learning and getting better, and I love that. Our energy was great in the second half."
• "We have to be smarter against good shot blockers. But we're going to get there. Our midfield was as good today as they were in the opening weekend. We'll learn from this game to help us in our next game."
• "We had great bench energy.
Natalie Pinder did a great job off the bench.
Sol Ortiz-Kreiner and
Kyra Brakefield were also solid today. I can't say enough about our backfield,
Jordan Goddard,
Meredith Fagan,
Madeline Stehly and
Autumn Peters were great today. You have to go through tough times to learn and improve. I'm pleased with us and I'm excited to see how we can keep getting better."
