
Millersville's comeback comes up short against Shippensburg

Shippensburg, Pa. – 174-pound Kyle Narber and 184-pound Evan Morrill brought the deficit down to 15-14 with two matches left but the Millersville wrestling team could not claim the last two matches against Shippensburg. The Red Raiders earned a 21-14 triumph over the Marauders Tuesday night.
The Marauders took their fourth loss of the season and now have a record of 3-4, 0-4 PSAC. The Red Raiders earned their fourth win of the season and its first victory against a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) opponent.
Trailing 15-8, redshirt junior Kyle Narber faced his younger brother Ryan Narber at the 174-pound weight class. Millersville's Narber took the victory over his brother, 6-1, for Millersville to pull within 15-11 with three matches to go.
Morrill helped to knock down the Shippensburg's lead to one point. Morrill claimed a 5-1 victory over Logan Fisher. At 197, Junior Colton Dull needed a third period rally but could not score against No. 3 Evan Ramos and the match ended, 7-2. Senior 285-pound Zachary Yackenchick needed to get a major decision victory to tie the match in the final bout. Derek Berberick took down Yackenchick, 4-1 to finish off the Red Raiders' 21-14 win.
Redshirt junior Shane Ruhnke, ranked No. 9 in the nation at 165 pounds, controlled his entire match and claimed an 11-3 major decision. Ruhnke earned his fifth major decision win of the season and his 15th overall victory.
Millersville started with an early 4-0 lead with sophomore Aaron Wildonger earning a 17-5 major decision victory over David Reagan. Wildonger recorded his 10th victory of the season.
The series now stands in favor of the Marauders, 33-27-1. Shippensburg, however, has won the past three years (27-12, 33-14, 21-14).
The Marauders returns to action on Friday Jan. 25 at the Kutztown Duals. The team will face against East Stroudburg and University of North Carolina-Pembroke on Friday.
