Bloomsburg, Pa. -- The Millersville women's soccer team lost 3-0 at Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference rival Bloomsburg University Wednesday night.
The game was delayed almost an hour because an official arrived to the field late. Despite the delay, the Marauders and the Huskies played earnestly early on and traded possession for the opening 20 minutes. In the 24th minute, Bloomsburg capitalized on an opportunity off a corner kick, and a deflection in the box caused the ball to enter Millersville's goal. Four minutes later, Bloomsburg took advantage of another opportunity and doubled its lead 2-0.
Millersville opened the second half with multiple opportunities off of corner kicks but could not catch a break. After Bloomsburg absorbed Millersville's offensive flurry, the Huskies countered and earned a corner kick. Bloomsburg headed the corner kick into the back of the goal and put the game out of reach for Millersville with a three goal lead.
The Millersville women's soccer team returns to Pucillo Field Sept. 9 at 2 p.m. against conference rival Pitt-Johnstown.
