Softball falls at Kutztown

Kutztown, Pennsylvania - The 2017 Millersville softball season came to an end Saturday when Kutztown topped the Marauders 2-1 and 4-1. Cassidy Pinchorski took the loss in extra innings in game one while freshman Emma Bevard threw game two.

Game One

The Marauders threatened in the first inning but Kutztown made a nice play at the plate to tag out Raeann Buskey. In the bottom of the fourth the Golden Bears would get on the board taking a 1-0 lead on an unearned run.

In the top of the sixth Brittany Smith singled up the middle and Kaelyn Buskey tripled to even the score at 1-1. Neither team would add a run until extra innings when Kutztown would capitalize on another Millersville error and win 2-1 in the eighth inning.

Game Two

In game two it was all Kutztown as the Golden Bears jumped out to a 4-0 lead. In the bottom of the first Kutztown scored a pair of runs and tacked on one in the second and sixth to take a commanding 4-0 lead.

Millersville would not go down without a fight, loading bases in the top of the seventh and scoring a run when Pinchorski drove home Jamie Trewhella to make it 4-1. Kutztown was able to ge the very next batter and thwart the comeback attempt as the Golden Bears got the doubleheader sweep.

The Marauders wrap up the season going 21-28 a year after making the PSAC Tournament for the first time. .
