
Thorwart Named Zag Field Hockey/NFHCA Division II National Scholar Athlete

Millersville, Pennsylvania - Senior Margaret Thorwart was announced as the Zag Field Hockey/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division II National Scholar Athlete on Tuesday.
The award is given to the first or second team All-American in Division II who maintains the highest cumulative grade-point average through the first semester of the 2016-17 school year.
Thorwart is a senior from Harrisburg, Pa., majoring in speech communication with an option in public relations and minors in athletic coaching and entrepreneurship. She finished the semester with a cumulative GPA of 3.97.
She ended her career as a Longstreth/NFHCA All-America First Team. Additionally, Thorwart was named All-PSAC First Team and PSAC Tournament MVP in 2016. She scored a team-high 20 points with seven goals and six assists while starting all 22 games, helping the Marauders win the PSAC Championship and advance to the semifinals of the NCAA Division II Championship.
Thorwart made both the Zag Field Hockey/NFHCA National Academic Squad and Scholars of Distinction lists in each of her four seasons at Millersville. She was also the NCAA Elite 89 Award Winner prior to the 2014 NCAA Championship.
