Marauders can't recover from slow start

Millersville, Pa. - After scoring over 100 points in back-to-back games, the Marauders couldn't find the bottom of the bucket with enough consistency--especially early--in Sunday's 76-67 loss to Pitt-Johnstown.

Millersville shot just 36.1 percent from the field while Pitt-Johnstown shot 52.9 percent from the field and 8 of 12 on threes. While Pitt-Johnstown made 9 of its first 12 shots, Millersville missed 10 of its first 12. In less than 11 minutes of play, UPJ had built a 32-10 lead, making all four threes it took while Millersville missed all five of its threes in that span.

The Marauders did open the second half with an 8-3 run featuring two Conrad Chambers threes, cutting Pitt-Johnstown's lead down to 46-38. But Millersville quickly went cold again. After cutting the deficit to single digits, the Marauders missed four of their next five shots and UPJ extended the lead back to 19 points with 13 minutes left.

Jamal Washington led Millersville with a career-high 14 points and six steals. One game removed from combining for 64 points, Marcus Adkison and Jordan Greene totaled 7 of 23 shooting for 23 points.

Isaac Vescovi led all scorers with 25 points. He was UPJ's main catalyst early, scoring 19 points in the first 13:32 of the game.

Pitt-Johnstown has won all three games against Millersville since joining the PSAC and has won three in a row in Pucillo Gymnasium.

The Marauders are back at home on Dec. 6 against Goldey-Beacom.
