Erie, Pa. - Playing in the second leg of a road back-to-back, buckets were tough to come by for Millersville against Mercyhurst Sunday. The Marauders shot just 19 percent from the field in the first half and were unable to recover in a 69-55 loss.
It was the second-fewest points scored by a Millersville team under the direction of second-year coach
Casey Stitzel and a full 31 points under the team's season scoring average of 86.3. While Millersville matched Mercyhurst's 36 points in the second half, the Marauders come not overcome a first half performance in which it shot 6 for 31 (.194) from the field and 1 of 12 from three. Millersville's only lead of the game came with the score 3-2.
Marcus Adkison hit a 3-pointer just over a minute into the game, and the Marauders missed its next 12 3-pointer attempts.
Jordan Greene led Millersville with 12 points, and six of those points came at the line. Adkison added 10 and
James Sullivan scored 11.
Mercyhurst began to pull away after Lorenzo Collier's 3-point with 12:58 left in the first half. Over the next nine minutes of action, the Lakers out-scored the Marauders 18-4 with Millersville shooting 2 of 13 from the field, 0 of 4 and committing three turnovers. Collier scored 10 of his game high 21 in that stretch.
Millersville will look to end its four-game losing streak on Nov. 25 at Lincoln.
