Garden City, N.Y. -Â The Millersville offense was shut down for the first time all season, and the Marauders suffered their first loss, falling to Adelphi 3-0 on the road Saturday.
Millersville came out of the gates strong, earning a corner kick in the eighth minute and nearly scoring two minutes later when defender
Devin Rediker sent a header just wide of the frame. In the 12th minute, Adelphi's James Thristino played the ball to Florant Girardin who took a touch inside the 18 and put the Panthers up 1-0. Â
After
Kody Eberly had a header go wide of the Adelphi net, the Panthers Caelen Hueber converted on a header to put Adelphi up by two.Â
The Panthers came out firing in the second half with three shots and a corner kick before the Marauders would threaten when
Omar Guzman put one on frame that was saved by Spenser Powell. Both sides traded opportunities until the 74th minute when Adelphi earned a set piece and Thristino hammered home a rebound to give the Panthers a 3-0 lead they would not relinquish.Â
Adelphi outshot Millersville 15-10 and only two Marauders placed a shot on frame. The Panthers improve to 2-1 on the year while Millersville goes to 3-1 (1-0 PSAC) overall. The Marauders remain on the road but return to conference play facing East Stroudsburg Tuesday a 6:30 p.m.
