Wilmington, Delaware -Â Down 2-0, Amanda Mceelhare pulled the Marauders to within one goal but the Wildcats of Wilmington scored three unanswered and defeated Millersville 5-1 Thursday. Wilmington outshot Millersville 16-8 and only allowed four shots on goal.
The Wildcats wasted little time getting on the board when Loran Wyrough lofted upper 90 from 20 yards out. Six minutes later, Wilmington would double their lead as Teigha Ward got the ball inside the box and put it in the back of the net.
Millersville did not register its first shot until the 25th minute but would get on the board in the 27th when
Kaylie Cutlip played a ball to
Amanda Mcelhare who drilled it past the keeper to make the score 2-1.Â
Wilmington stole the momentum back in the 33rd when Gabrielle Perry placed a ball on inside the post and gave the Wildcats a two-goal lead they would take into the break.
The Marauders registered a pair of shots early in the second, but could not convert and the score remained 3-1 until 70th when Wilmington would score a free kick from outside the box. The Wildcats added a fifth in the 81st and cruised to a 5-1 victory.
Millersville falls to 5-9 (5-8 PSAC) and remains on the road squaring off with Seton Hill Saturday at 2:30 p.m.
