West Chester, Pa. – The Millersville men's basketball team trailed throughout in Hollinger Fieldhouse Wednesday, losing its 19th in the last 21 trips in the home of PSAC rival West Chester. The Golden Rams dealt Millersville a 109-59 loss on Wednesday evening as the Marauders dropped their 14th-straight contest and fell to 2-15 overall and 2-10 in the PSAC.
PSAC East leader West Chester (15-2, 11-2 PSAC) scored the opening basket and used absolutely lights-out shooting from 3-point range in both periods to hand the Marauders their worst loss of the season. The Golden Rams shot 9-of-11 from downtown in the first frame and finished the game shooting 71.4 percent (15-of-21) from distance. West Chester had a balanced attack with five players finishing in double figures. Avery Brown and Mike Jolaoso poured in a game-high 15 points on a 9-of-11 shooting from 3-point range.
Millersville was playing its first game in a week and it showed. The Marauders were unable to string together consecutive successful offensive possessions in the first half as the home team carried a 55-26 advantage into the break. The Marauders shot just 10-of-29 from the field in the opening half.
The offense didn't improve much in the second half. Millersville shot 11-of 31 (35.5 percent) in the final 20 minutes. The Marauders were led by
Scott Slade Jr. who scored a career-high 12 points.
The Marauders return to Pucillo Gymnasium Saturday in hopes of picking up their first win of the season in the building. Millersville hosts Mansfield for a 3:30 p.m. tip.
