Millersville, Pa. - As one of the winners of the NCAA's Elite 89 Award, Millersville field hockey junior Margaret Thorwart has been entered into the second annual Elite 89 Fan Favorite contest in which fans vote for their favorite winner from the 2014-15 academic year. The contest is promoted via NCAA social media channels in an effort to raise awareness for the award and celebrate the high-achieving student-athletes. Fans can vote by clicking here.
Thorwart received over 250 votes during the two-day semifinal round and the field of 30 semifinalists was trimmed to 10 finalists. Voting for the finals runs from Wednesday through Thursday, July 16 at 8 p.m. Only one winner will be crowned as he or she will be featured on NCAA social media platforms throughout the day on Friday, July 24. Fans do not have to register to vote and can vote once per day per computer.
Thorwart, known as "Margo" to her teammates, won the field hockey Elite 89 award for posting a 3.967 GPA through the fall semester.
