Marauders Light Up Wilmington for Fourth Straight Win

Millersville, Pa. - Millersville men's basketball lit up the Pucillo Gymnasium scoreboard in Wednesday's 99-76 win over Wilmington for a fourth consecutive win. Five players in double figures helped the Marauders score their most points in a 40-minute game since 2008.

Millersville (10-9) jumped its record above the .500 mark for the first time this season by hitting a season-high 12 3-pointers, sinking 23-of-29 free throws and wonderfully executing its offense in an up-tempo game that featured three breakaway slam dunks from Kelvin Parker. The win also marked the first time since December of 2012 that the Marauders won four in a row.

Sam Light played the role of spark plug in the first half. He finished with a career-high 20 points, four assists and two steals but his most significant impact came in the final 10 minutes of the period when he scored 14 of the team's 30 points. The score stood tied at 25 with 6:08 remaining in the half, but Light lofted a perfect alley-oop to Parker, starting a 16-2 run that included two threes from Light.

Wilmington managed to hang close, and a put-back from Tyrik Gass with 14:26 left in the game made the score 53-48 in favor of the Marauders. Light provided the response again in his first action of the period. He scored on his first offensive possession and then fed Eddie Callender for another hoop the next trip down the floor. With 8:58 to play, Light hit a pair of free throws and Callender scored six straight points as part of a 12-2 run that put some addition distance between the Marauders and Wildcats. Millersville continue to gain separation in the final minutes thanks to three 3-pointers from Tommy Patterson.

Patterson was among the five in double figures with 11 points on 3-of-6 shooting. He also grabbed six boards and blocked three shots, but made a number of key hustle plays that are not represented in the box score. Kelvin Parker finished with 18 points, seven boards, four assists and two steals in 28 minutes. He's scored at least 18 points in five of the last six games. Anthony Moe recorded the first double-double of his Marauder career with 16 points and 11 rebounds. He also swatted three shots. Callender chipped in 12 points and seven rebounds.

Millersville gets back to PSAC play on Wednesday with a trip to Bloomsburg.
