
Marauders Score Five First-Place Finishes In Dual Meet With East Stroudsburg

East Stroudsburg, Pa. – The Millersville women's swimming team competed in its first duel meet since Nov. 8 and the Black & Gold just fell short to the East Stroudsburg Warriors, 147-109, at Koehler Fieldhouse.
The Marauders finished first in five of the meet's 14 events and they also had eight second place finishers. Junior's Brigid Kavanaugh and Janelle Laudermilch helped the 4x100-meter relay team cruise to a first place result with a time of 1:46.04. The quartet of Sarah McGregor, Victoria Bruno, Meghan Hickey, and Teagan Hanlon also swam strong in the event as they finished second with a recorded time of 1:56.71.
Grace Magerr shaved nearly five seconds off her season best time in the 1000-yard freestyle. Magerr touched the wall first with a time of 10:54.05 and had a little over a 40 second cushion over her nearest competitor. The talented junior also finished first in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:28.28.
Rachel Malampy swam to her best finish of the season when she won the 200-yard freestyle. Malampy touched the wall with a time of 2:00.28 and it was over a second faster then Karoline Vavra of East Stroudsburg.
In the 100-yard backstroke Emily Fusco swam to another Marauder first place finish. The freshman completed the event with a time of 1:01.45. The most successful event for the Marauders was the 50-yard freestyle, where Brigid Kavanaugh, Marina Barrineau, and Rachel Malampy finished within the top-5. Kavanaugh just fell short of a first place finish as she finished 23 milliseconds behind Warrior swimmer Annie Fagan.
Millersville now has two more meets before competing in the PSAC Championships on Feb. 18-22. The Marauders will host their final meet of the season when Kutztown travels to campus next week to compete in Pucillo Natatorium.
