Millersville Pa. - The 1960 original Millersville soccer team was on hand kick off the 201season, but the Marauders were on the wrong side of a hard fought 4-3 loss to Pfeiffer.
Â
Millersville came into the night ranked No. 20 in Division II according to the NSCAA Preseason Poll. Pfeiffer was able to strike two quick goals back-to-back that swung the momentum in its favor early. The first goal was credited to Roberto Soares at the 18:23 mark when he was on the receiving end of a Marauder turnover in the 18-yard box, that led to an easy strike past goalkeeper
David Brubaker. Soares continued his strong play in the Marauder third of the field as his shot a minute-and-a-half later was saved by Brubaker but the rebound tricked to the waiting right foot of Jaime Siaj who made it 2-0. The Falcons went into half with the two-goal lead.
Â
At the 50:30 mark Millersville was whistled with a foul inside the penalty area, which led to Nathan Regis converting on a penalty kick. But the Marauders fought to the end as
Ahmed Qaisi scored at the 67:17 mark making it 3-1. The rally wasn't over just yet as
Jonathan Dadeboe netted his first career collegiate goal fooling the Falcon goalkeeper. And with just two minutes left Regis netted his second goal of the night making it 4-2. But the Marauders never stopped fighting as they scored on a
Jesse Zimmerman corner that was headed in by
Zach Brier, which cut the lead to one leaving just 16 seconds remaining in the contest.
Â
Overall both teams fired 20 shots on net each, with the Marauders getting more on target, 9-8.

Millersville returns to action Sunday when they are home again at Pucillo Field versus West Virginia Wesleyan at 2 p.m.
