Last Meeting: 2013 (MU 1, WCU 0)

Game Overview
  • Tuesday's matchup will take place between the only two undefeated teams in the PSAC.  Since the end of the 2013 season, Millersville has been a force to reckon with, coming in to Tuesday's game ranked No. 1 with a 5-0 record.  In their last game they took on the Bloomsburg Huskies where they won 1-0 during over time with Rachel Dickinson scoring the game-winning goal off a penalty stroke.  This season the Marauders have out-scored their opponents 23-1.  West Chester comes into today's game just as determined to maintain its perfect 5-0 record.  In its last game West Chester defeated Bloomsburg 2-0 off goals from Mary Spisak and Hannah Davies.
Series History
  • The series between these two powerhouses dates back to 1948 where the Marauders lost to the Rams, 5-1.  The series took a 28-year hiatus from 1983 until 2011 when West Chester returned to the PSAC.  Since then the series has been close with West Chester leading the Marauders 5-4.  Last season however, the Marauders went on a winning-streak and beat West Chester in all four of their meetings, outscoring the Rams, 7-1.
The Last Meeting
  • The Marauders last met the Rams during the NCAA Division II Quarterfinals where the Marauders won, 1-0.  The game-winning goal came from Sarah Bomberger in the 24th minute of play.  Although West Chester put intense pressure on the Marauders in the final 10 minutes of the game with five penalty corners and four shots they were unable to get anything past goalkeeper Lauren Sotzin.  This was Sotzin's 11th shutout of the season and her third consecutive in the postseason.
Zapp Looks to Continue Impressive Streak
  • Senior Katelyn Zapp looks to continue her scoring streak.  Zapp already has seven goals on the season with four of them coming during Millersville's 6-1 win over Kutztown on Sept. 13.  She comes into Tuesday's game with a shot on goal percentage of .857.  During her freshman year she led the team with 34 shots, 24 on goal for a shot on goal percentage of .706.  Last season she started all 22 games for the Marauders and tied for third on the team with seven goals.  Zapp currently ranks fifth in the PSAC in both goals and points.
Sotzin Remains Anchor for Marauder Defense
  • Senior Lauren Sotzin has yet to disappoint this season as goalkeeper for the Marauders.  She has helped Millersville maintain their perfect record, only allowing one goal in five games.  Although it is early in the season she already has three shutouts and is on track to have her most impressive season yet.  She is ranked first in the PSAC in both goals against average and shutouts per game.  Sotzin only needs five shutouts to tie the Millersville record of 27 that was set by Stacey Hollinger (1985-1988).
Scouting West Chester
  • The Rams are coached by Amy Cohen who has won two national championships during her first three years at West Chester.  West Chester opened their season with a 3-1 win over Bentley University.  Freshman Rachal Toppi scored two for the Rams in the opening match.  In its last game, West Chester shutout Bloomsburg 2-0 with goals coming from Mary Spisak and Hannah Davies.  West Chester has outscored and outshot their opponents 22-6 and 124-34 respectively.  Freshman Marnie Kusakavitch leads the Rams' offense with eight goals and a shots on goal percentage of .933.
