
Women's Swimming Places 10th at PSAC Championships

Complete Meet Results I Sunday Prelim Results
York, Pa. - The Millersville women's swimming team finished in 10th place overall for the second-straight season and accumulated 92 points at the 2014 PSAC Swimming Championships.
Sophomore Grace Magerr again stole the show for Millersville by setting her third individual record at the conference championships on the final day of competition. On Sunday, Magerr re-broke her own school-best time of 18:07.05 in the 1,650-yard freestyle by swimming the race in 17:40.36 and finishing in ninth place.
Millersville had four different swimmers race in the 100-freestyle. Senior Amanda Thomas led the group by placing 29th with a time of 54.57. Freshman Rachel Malampy swam a personal best and finished 36th when she touched the final wall in 54.97. Sophomore Brigid Kavanaugh ended in 42nd and senior Becca Anderson placed 48th.
The same four swimmers joined forces for Millersville and swam in the 400-freestyle relay. The quartet swam five seconds faster than their previous fastest time this year and finished ninth with a time of 3:36.03.
Two rookie swimmers competed in the 200-backstroke and 200-breaststroke for the Black and Gold. Rachel Stump placed 19th in the 200-back with a result of 2:12.12. The freshman's finish was a personal record and the third fastest time in program history in the event. Classmate Bree Link swam the 200-breaststroke in 2:32.76 and placed 21st overall.
Millersville's 92 points are the third most under the leadership of head coach Kyle Almoney and it marks the third straight year that the Marauders have totaled 90 or more points.

The Millersville swimmers will now await to hear from the NCAA to see if they qualified for the NCAA Championships in March.
