
Marauders Come Up Short Against Vulcans

California, Pa. - The Millersville women's swimming team swam to several season-best times on Saturday against California (Pa.), but the Marauders came up just short in a 108-95 loss at Hamer Hall.
The loss drops the Marauders to 1-1 this season in dual meets, and the Vulcans improved to 3-2 on the year.
Millersville finished in first place in four events in its first road dual meet of the 2014-15 season. Sophomore Rachel Malampy won the 200-yard freestyle swimming a season best time of 2:03:24.
In the fourth event of the meet Brigid Kavanaugh won the 50-yard freestyle. The Frederick, Md. native paced the field as she touched the wall in 26:05.
Three Marauders placed in the top four in the 100-yard freestyle. Kavanaugh grabbed the team's best time, finishing in first at 56.72. Rachel Malampy and Janelle Laudermilch placed second and fourth, respectively.
Freshman Emily Fusco swam to a season-best time in the 100-yard backstroke. Fusco won the event finishing at 1:02.74. The first-year swimmer's time was 0:00.64 seconds faster than her previous best effort.
Millersville will remain on the road for the next meet when it travels to Lock Haven next Saturday. The meet is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. at Zimmerli Pool.
