Johnstown, Pa. - Olivia Webber recorded her 14th career shutout in Saturday's 3-0 victory over Pitt-Johnstown. Millersville received goals from
Kady Yoders,
Hannah Willett, and
Logan Neiman as the Marauders finished the regular season 9-6-2 overall and 8-6-2 in PSAC action.
Webber recorded six saves in the 3-0 win over the Mountain Cats, and she is now tied with Liz Argo for the most career shutouts in program history. The Marauders also finished the regular season with its best record since 2004.
Possession wise the match was dominated by Millersville, and it wasn't until the 29th minute that it finally was able to shoot a ball past Mountain Cat keeper Timi Shiock.
Meagan Newmister was able to carry the ball up the left side of the pitch, and she crossed it in to
Kady Yoders who fired the shot into the back of the net. The goal marked Yoders fifth of the season, and she finished her freshman season with 10 points.
In the 34th minute Pitt-Johnstown had a chance to equalize when midfielder Karley Staffen fired a shot in a very opportune position within the Marauder box.
Olivia Webber was there to stymie the Mountain Cat chance, and the score remained 1-0 into the halftime break.
The score remained the same until the 62nd minute when
Hannah Willett blasted a direct kick that beat Timi Shiock to make it 2-0.
The Marauders added another insurance effort 11 minutes later when
Logan Neiman tallied her fourth career goal. Neiman was assisted on the play by defender
Kelsey Mattola.
Pitt-Johnstown finished its season 0-18 overall and 0-16 in PSAC play. Since entering the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference in 2013 the Mountain Cats have yet to record an in conference victory.
Millersville finished the season ninth in the PSAC, one spot away from making the PSAC Postseason Tournament. The Marauders haven't made the tournament since 2004.
