Balanced Marauders Blank Limestone

Millersville, Pa. - Millersville field hockey received four goals from four players in a convincing, 4-0 victory over sixth-ranked Limestone Saturday afternoon at Chryst Field at Biemesderfer Stadium.

No. 1 Millersville (12-2) and No. 6 Limestone (11-3) entered the tilt with identical records and losses to the same teams but Millersville dominated the fourth-ever meeting between the clubs and improved to 4-0 all-time in the series. Rachel Dickinson, Hannah Whitman and Randi Boyd combined to give Millersville a 3-0 lead at the break. Olivia Hershey tacked on a second-half goal, and Lauren Sotzin posted the 27th shutout of her career, which tied the Millersville record.

Millersville wasted little time erasing the memory of Wednesday's overtime loss to West Chester. Just over five minutes in, Dickinson took a penalty corner entry from Lauren Gerhart and her shot made its way through Tabria Cochran, who entered the game as the goalkeeper of the nation's third-best scoring defense.

Witman boosted the lead in the 15th minute when she gathered a loose ball and fired it into the back of the cage from the left side of the circle. In the 27th minute, Boyd won a scrum in front of the cage by poking the ball past Cochran for a 3-0 Marauder lead.

Limestone managed just one penalty corner and two shots in the first period while the Marauders totaled five corners and eight shots, including seven on goal.

Hershey's fourth goal of the season was set-up brilliantly by Arianna Grays, who carried the ball into the circle and set-up Hershey with a pass. Hershey's first shot was saved but quickly followed with another shot that found the back of the cage.

Sotzin finished with two saves for her eight shutout of the season. The 27th of her career moved her into a tie with hall of famer Stacey Hollinger for first on Millersville's career list.

The Marauders host East Stroudsburg on Oct. 28 at 4 p.m.
