Millersville, Pa. - Another "Shorty" Hitchcock Memorial Classic is in the books. Millersville wrestling hosted the 11th annual edition of the tournament in the Student Memorial Center on Sunday, attracting wrestlers from the ranks of Division I, II and III.
Only five wrestlers competed under the Millersville banner. Sam Oberlander, wrestling at 125 pounds, came within one win of being the first Marauder to place since 2009. He opened with a 10-7 decision over Stevens' Rob Murray and then pinned Jake Field of Lock Haven at the 4:33 mark. Oberlander, however, dropped his next two matches, coming one win shy of the third-place bout.
In the same weight class, Austin Camacci went 1-2 with a consolation bracket fall (2:16) over Penn's Andrew Doll. Oberlander and Camacci were the lone Marauders to pick up victories.
Millersville returns to dual action on Jan. 24 at Wheeling Jesuit.
