Box Score Elkins, W.V. - Two second half goals by Davis & Elkins proved to be the difference as the Marauders fell to the Senators 3-1, losing their second non-conference game of the year. Junior
Zack Caracciolo scored the goal for Millersville, but mistakes on the defensive end of the field helped Davis & Elkins escape with a win.
The Marauders controlled the possession for most of the game, but they could not connect and give themselves a lead. The Senators scored first and went up 1-0 after they took a corner kick and failed clears from the Marauder defense led to a loose ball being poked in for the game's first goal.
Caracciolo would find the equalizer in the second half on a pass from freshman
Jeramey Robbins. An active Davis & Elkins squad caused the Millersville defense to make uncharacteristic turnovers which led to two second half goals for D&E.
"We had most of the possession and controlled the play, we just could not turn it into great scoring chances," Millersville coach
Steve Widdowson commented. "They frustrated us, we made mistakes in the back, and they took advantage."
The Marauders have one more non-conference game before PSAC play begins. Widdowson looks for his team to learn from this game as it prepares for conference action.
"It's a dissappointing result but we can learn from it as we move into PSAC play soon," said Widdowson.
Millersville hosts District of Columbia on Sept. 17 at 7 p.m. before traveling to California (Pa.) on Sept. 19 for its first PSAC match of the season.
