Ruppert and Ladd Go Unbeaten but Marauders Drop Three

Boiling Springs, N.C. - Freshman Josh Ruppert and senior Brad Ladd each went 3-0 in Saturday's quad meet with Davidson, Campbell and Gardner-Webb. As a team, though, Millersville lost all three duals and dropped to 2-11 on the season.

The closest dual was the opener between the Marauders and Davidson. Ruppert (133) pinned Anthony Elias in just 22 seconds. 184-pound Shane Smith also scored his first win by decision this season. Zac Wawrzyniak-Bush pinned Dan Hageann in 2:04, and Ladd (285) won by forfeit. It was not enough, though, as the Marauders were edged 23-21.

Only Ruppert and Ladd managed victories in the 39-9 loss to Campbell. Ruppert earned a 7-2 decision over Joey Rizzolino, and Ladd notched his 15th win and eighth pin of the year. He pinned Joe Nolan at the 1:00 mark.

Gardner-Webb topped the Marauders 36-12. Ruppert scored his second fall of the day, giving him nine on the season. Robbie Gould took Ruppert into the third period, but Rupper scored the pin at 5:27. Again, Ladd was the only other Marauder to win a bout. Ladd kept pace with Ruppert for the team-lead in pins by pinning Justin Kozera in 1:21.

Ladd is now 16-10 overall and leads the team in wins. Ruppert improved his record to 13-6.

Millersville hosts George Mason on Feb. 14 for Senior Night and its final home dual of the season.
