
Swim Team Finishes Third at Highlander Invitational

Day Three Results I Full Meet Results
Radford, Va. - Multiple Marauder swimmers set personal records, and Brigid Mary McDonnell set the school record in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:25.55 in the final day of the Highlander Invitational. Millersville picked up 553 points and finished third overall out of six teams.
McDonnell finished second overall in the 200-yard breaststroke and topped her own school record of 2:26.07 that she set last season. Janelle Laudermilch (2:30.48), Jade Wise (2:36.24), and Adriana Rodriguez (2:42.22) each recorded personal bests in the 200-yard breaststroke as well. McDonnell and Laudermilch's finishes were PSAC qualiying times.
The 400-yard freestyle relay team of Brigid Kavanaugh, Amanda Thomas, Grace Magerr and Sarah Bernhardt placed third overall in the event and recorded a school record with a time of 3:36.48. The foursome topped the old record of 3:38.88 by more than two full seconds.
Senior Sarah Bernhardt recorded a NCAA "B" cut time in the 100-yard freestyle with a 52.54 finish. Bernhardt grabbed first place in the event and posted the second fastest time in school history, only .18 slower than her own school record of 52.26. Also, in the 100-yard freestyle Amanda Thomas (55.00) and Grace Magerr (55.55) each notched their own personal bests in the event.
In the 200-yard backstroke, Kavanaugh and Bridget Dooling each touched the wall with personal records, finishing at 2:16.81 and 2:22.15 respectively.
Against all Division I competition, only Campbell University (1225.5) and host Radford University (664.5) finished with more points than Millersville.
"It's great to see all of the hardwork payoff for our swimmers," commented head coach Kyle Almoney. "I'm very proud of the overall effort of our team over this past weekend. I believe it is a testament to the abilities, commitment, and dedication of all the women on our team."
The Marauders have two weeks to continue to work hard as their next swim meet is not until Nov. 30. Millersville will take on Lock Haven on Nov. 30 with the meet set to start at 5 p.m.
