Millersville, Pa. - The Millersville men's soccer team dropped its second straight non-conference game and fourth overall Saturday in a 6-2 home loss to W.Va. Wesleyan.
Freshman Jeramey Robbins scored the first goal for Millersville (5-6) with 21 minutes remaining in the first half. William Taylor added the second goal in the final minutes of the game. The Marauders had a difficult time generating offense as they only took seven shots in the game. Goalkeeper Chris Schneider gathered six saves.
Wesleyan (8-3) scored two goals in the first half and four in the second to match a season best six-goal performance.
Wesleyan got on the board first when Joe Ferrarachi played a center pass to an oncoming Sam Turner. Turner beat Schneider to the ball and fired a shot near the left post giving the Bobcats a 1-0 lead.
In the 24th minute Millersville answered when assist leader Andrew Dukes played a cross into the box. The pass fell right at Robbins feet and he knocked the ball past Ayers, tying the game 1-1. With the goal, Robbins is now tied with fellow freshman Jaime Vazquez for the team lead in goals with four.
The Bobcats were able to break through again six minutes before halftime. A long pass from Ferrarachi slowly rolled towards the 18. Schneider came off his line to try and beat a charging Jordan Halpern to the ball. Halpern got there first and dribbled past Schneider and tapped in the game-winner as Wesleyan reclaimed the lead 2-1.
Wesleyan would add two more insurance goals before Taylor tallied his goal in the second half from 20 yards. He was on the left sideline and took a few touches before firing a shot to the far upper 90 to close the gap to 4-2.
Again Wesleyan was able to score on the Marauder defense as it added two more goals before the end of the game. The six goals is the most the Marauders have given up all season.
Millersville returns to conference play in its next game when it takes on Lock Haven at home on Oct. 9 at 1 p.m.
