
Ogden Goes Provisional at Paul Kaiser Classic

Shippensburg, Pa. – Junior Keith Ogden led Millersvile with a NCAA provisional qualifying time in the 400-meter hurdles at the Paul Kaiser Classic on the campus of Shippensburg University Saturday. Several other Marauders set personal records at the event.
Ogden took first place in the 400-meter hurdles beating the second place finisher by two-hundredths of a second. His time of 53.32 seconds earned him an NCAA provisional qualifying standard. The personal best put Ogden third in Millersville history.
Senior Derrick Bass also had a career day. Bass placed third in the long jump reaching a distance of 6.97 meters for a new personal best. The distance is also the best on the team this season. Melvin Fields joined the group of four long jumpers to qualify for the PSAC Championships with his jump of 6.62 meters.
Ryan Griffith topped his seasons' best in the 110-meter hurdles twice Saturday afternoon. In the preliminary race he qualified for the finals with a time of 15.65 seconds. He bettered his time in the finals after crossing the line in 15.55 seconds.
For the women's team, Mona Reuter picked up the only first-place finish. Reuter took the 3,000-meter crown in a time of 10:14.84 setting a personal best in the event.
Erin Mason improved her time in the 200-meter dash by three-tenths of a second. Her time of 26.35 seconds gives her the second fastest time on the team this season and a new personal best.
Megan Meyer put herself in the record books after finishing eighth in the 800-meter run. Meyer set a personal record and placed herself fourth all-time at Millersville in the event with a time of 2:16.71.
Freshman Nicole Sokira came close to the Millersville women's hammer throw record (43.15 meters) after throwing it a distance of 43.13 meters to claim fourth in the event.
The Millersville track and field teams have one more event before the PSAC Outdoor Championships. They head to Kutztown next Saturday, May 7 for the annual Kutztown Last Chance Qualifier.
