
Four Men's Cross Country Runners Earn USTFCCCA All-Academic Status

Millersville, Pa. - Millersville men's cross country athletes Jim Boyer, Zach Kelchner, James McBride and Michael Parker each earned a spot on the U.S. Track and Field Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic team.
The four Millersville student-athletes were among the 182 Division II male runners to receive 2010 USTFCCCA Cross Country All-Academic honors, representing 89 Division II institutions. The PSAC led all Division II conferences with 29 representatives. With four honorees, Millersville tied with 11 other schools for second-most in the nation.
To qualify for All-Academic honors, a student-athlete must have completed at least 12 semester/quarter hours through the semester of competition at the institution to be elibigle. The student-athlete must have at least a 3.25 cumulative grade point average and have placed in the top 30 percent of the total number of athletes eligible to compete at the respective regional championships, or in the top 50 percent of the field at the NCAA Division II Cross Country Championships.
Boyer, a dean's list student, returned from a redshirt season and consistently finished in the team's top five runners. Boyer used his experience to place 37th at the PSAC Championship. He placed in the same spot at the NCAA Atlantic Regional. Boyer is now a three-time all-academic selection.
Kelchner, a senior biology major, was named USTFCCCA All-Academic for the second time in his career. After redshirt in 2009, Kelchner ran the team's fourth-fastest time at the PSAC Championship and was sixth on the team at the regional.
McBride, a redshirt sophomore business adminstration major, bounced back from hip surgery in impressive fashion. He was Millersville's top runner in all seven events and captured 33rd at the PSAC Championship. He ran one of the top 10K times in school history to place 21st at the regional. It is the second time that McBride has been named USTFCCCA All-Academic.
Parker, a junior biology major, earned his first all-academic honor. He delivered the best year of his career, placing as the team's No. 5 runner in both postseason events.
