Radford, Va. - Sarah Bernhardt posted a NCAA provisional time in the 100-yard freestyle to lead the Millersville swimmers on the final day of the Highlander Invitational.
Bernhardt posted a time of 52.26 to place third and notch 16 points for her team. It was her third NCAA "B" cut of the invitational. That time set a school record, besting a time of 52.86 that was set in 2009.
"This was a great meet with 90 percent of the swims being season bests," said Coach Kyle Almoney. "We had a number of personal best also. Overall, a very great meet for our program and a meet that will set the foundation for a successful rest of the season."
Freshman Brigid Mary McDonnell picked up 12 points for Millersville and set a school record with a seventh-place finish in the 200-yard breaststroke. Her time was 2:29.35, besting a school record that was set in 2007 by nearly a full second.
The 400-yard freestyle relay team comprised of McDonnell, Arielle Walbert, Emma Viets and Adriana Rodriguez placed 13th for eight points with a time of 3:54:13.
As a team, the Marauders placed ninth out of 10 teams with 128 points. Millersville was the lone Division II team to compete. The Marauders are off until a dual meet with Kutztown on Jan. 14.
