Lock Haven Blanks No. 13 Marauders in Pivotal PSAC Match

Lock Haven, Pa. – Lock Haven scored a pair of goals in the first half and shut down No. 13 Millersville for 90 minutes to win 2-0 in Thursday's pivotal PSAC match.

Lock Haven (10-7, 6-2 PSAC) received three corner attempts in the match--all three in the first half. Sixteen minutes into the game the Bald Eagles took their first corner. Billy Pasukinis sent the ball in from the stick and found Mark Tattersall. Tattersall headed the ball to the upper corner of the goal to give Lock Haven a 1-0 lead.

The game remained 1-0 most of the first half. Neither team had many scoring chances with wet conditions.

Late in the second half the Bald Eagles capitalized on another corner attempt. This time Kevin Wolfe took the kick, sending the ball into the box. Martin Pletz, in similar fashion to Tattersall's goal, headed the ball off the far post and in to increase Lock Haven's lead to 2-0 before the break.

Millersville (9-6-1, 6-2 PSAC) was held to just four shots, two on goal in the match. The Marauders were unable to find any shots on goal in the second half to drop their second-straight game after moving back in the national rankings.

Millersville and Lock Haven are now tied with 18 points in the conference standings. The Bald Eagles hold the advantage in the first three tiebreakers and can secure the PSAC regular season title with a win on Saturday against Slippery Rock. The Marauders can secure second place to host the first round of the PSAC Tournament with a win over West Chester on Saturday. For Millersville to claim it will need to defeat the Golden Rams and have Slippery Rock tie or upset Lock Haven.

Lock Haven travels to Slippery Rock Saturday, Oct. 29 for a 7 p.m. start time.

The Marauders travel to West Chester for their last regular season game on Saturday, Oct. 29. The game is set to kick off at 2:30 p.m.
