Carlisle, Pa. - With Elicia Anderson and Emily Francisco leading the way, the Millersville women took third place at Saturday's Dickinson College Long-Short Invitational. The men's team also fared well, placing fifth in an 18-team field.
The Dickinson Long-Short Invitational features an 6K and 4K race for the women and an 8K and 4K race for the men. The team score is generated using the combined scores for both races.
Anderson, competing in the 4K event against some of the top competition in the region, placed third--just one second behind Shippensburg's Mary Dell. She posted a time of 14:10, trailing Neely Spence's winning time of 13:27.
Shippensburg placed its top five runners in the top 10 and took the team title. Following behind Anderson in the short race was Samantha Mulvey, who took 17th with a time of 15:25. Bekah Moore placed 21st in 15:32.
Francisco paced the Marauders in the 6K race. She took fourth in the 142-runner field with a time of 23:10, crossing the line just 33 seconds behind the winner. Sarah Mulvey finished in 24:50, placing 35th.
On the men's side, James McBride placed fourth out of 182 runners in the 8K race, finishing in 26:20. Josh Foulds took 11th with a time of 26:52. Zach Kelchner placed 22nd with a time of 27:27.
Redshirt freshman Seth Hibbs was Millersville's top finisher in the 4K race, placing 44th with a time of 13:08.
Both teams return to action on Oct. 1at the Paul Short Invitational.
