
Rafach, Walton Named to USTFCCCA All-Academic List

Millersville, Pa. – Jeff Rafach and David Walton of the Millersville men's cross country team were named to the Division II All-Academic list for the 2009 season, as announced Thursday by the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
Rafach and Walton were among 152 male student-athletes recognized for their academics by the USTFCCCA, representing 78 Division II schools across the country. The Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) had the most All-Academic honorees for the second year in a row with 27.
To qualify for All-Academic honors, a student-athlete must have completed at least 12 semester/quarter hours through the semester of competition at the institution to be eligible. The student-athlete must have at least a 3.25 cumulative grade point average and have placed in the top 30 percent of the total number of athletes eligible to compete at the respective regional championships or have placed in the top 50 percent of the field at the NCAA Division II Cross Country Championships.
Rafach, a junior meteorology major, garnered five top-25 finishes in the 2009 season's eight meets. Walton, a sophomore chemistry major, placed 49th at the NCAA Atlantic Regional meet, posting a season-best time of 34:02.
