Men's Soccer Blanks West Chester, Shutout Streak at Three

Box Score

West Chester, Pa. — The No. 3 Millersville men's soccer team posted its third straight clean sheet and Ethan Daubert scored a first half goal in a 1-0 PSAC Eastern Division win at West Chester on Tuesday afternoon.

The Marauders (4-0, 3-0 PSAC East) swarmed the Golden Rams (0-3-1, 0-2-1 PSAC East) in the opening half of play. The visitors held a 12-2 shot advantage, but the one that counted was Daubert's first goal of the season.

Freshman Adam Keller served a corner kick into the box, but West Chester goalkeeper Peter Weiss' attempted punch at the ball went awry and Daubert was there to reap the benefits at 19:38 of the first half.

Tension started to build between the two squads and the game turned physical, as eight players were booked (all yellow cards). West Chester picked up five of the eight yellow cards.

Junior keeper Matt Langione made four saves on the afternoon for Millersville, picking up his third straight shutout. The 2009 squad became just the sixth team in the program's 50-season history to post back-to-back-to-back shutouts and can become just the second team to record four straight if they can do so against Molloy on Saturday.

The school record for consecutive shutouts is seven, set by the 2003 team, who accomplished the feat under head coach Bob Charles. This Millersville team hasn't gotten to that record yet, but it did set one of its own on Tuesday afternoon. With the win, Millersville is now 4-0 for the second time in two seasons.

Millersville will look to run its record to 5-0 Saturday evening when it takes on Molloy College in non-conference action at Chryst Field at Biemesderfer Stadium. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
