Box Score
Millersville, Pa. — The No. 3 Millersville men's soccer team and Bloomsburg both came into Saturday night's match with unblemished 2-0 records, but thanks to a goal in each half, the Marauders were able to take care of business, 2-0, at Chryst Field at Biemesderfer Stadium.
Millersville (3-0, 2-0 PSAC East) controlled much of the play throughout the night.
Matt Wilson nearly got the Marauders on the board at 8:19 of the first half, but his shot went just north of the crossbar and the game remained scoreless.
Junior
Kyle Loughlin gave Millersville its 1-0 advantage just under five minutes later. Loughlin netted his first of the year with a rocket along the ground that beat Bloomsburg (2-1, 1-1 PSAC East) keeper David Leiendecker. Loughlin received a quick tap pass off of a free kick from
Dan Prian.
Millersville's dominance in possession only resulted in a one goal lead at the half, but the Marauders held a heavily tilted 12-1 shot advantage after 45 minutes.
The Black and Gold would quickly find the back of the net in the second half, courtesy of
Aaron Roland. The 6'5 sophomore took a feed from
Thomas Bargmann and made the Huskies pay. Much like Loughlin's goal earlier on, Roland's was his first of the 2009 campaign.
Bloomsburg tightened up the shot totals in the second half, trailing only 6-5 in that department, but could never beat Millersville keeper
Matt Langione on this night. Langione made two saves in picking up his second straight shutout and running his scoreless minutes streak to 188:12.
Millersville also held a 9-1 advantage in corner kicks. The squad now travels to West Chester on Tuesday for a PSAC East contest, before returning home next Saturday to take on Molloy College in non-conference action.
