Bloomsburg, Pa. — A goal in each half lifted the fourth-ranked Millersville men's soccer team to its second consecutive Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division title, 2-0, on Tuesday night at Bloomsburg.
The Marauders (10-1, 6-0 PSAC East) got the scoring started in the 26th minute with a familiar face potting the goal. Leading-scorer
Kyle Loughlin collected a rebound and beat Huskies' goalkeeper David Leiendecker for his eighth goal of the season.
Bloomsburg (6-3-2, 3-2-1 PSAC East), which currently sits in the second playoff spot in the PSAC Eastern Division, didn't generate much offense to help its playoff hopes on Tuesday. The Huskies fired just one shot
Matt Langione's way in the opening five minutes.
Nearly 20 minutes into the second half, Millersville added an insurance goal to make it 2-0. Midfielder
Ethan Daubert netted his second of the season, from Loughlin, at 62:53.
Leiendecker made eight saves in defeat, but Langione denied Bloomsburg all evening long. Langione only had to make four saves, but in doing so he registered his seventh shutout of the season.
The win guaranteed that Millersville will once again host a PSAC tournament semifinal game at a date and time yet to be determined. The PSAC Championship will be hosted by a Western Division school this season.
Millersville returns home to Chryst Field at Biemesderfer Stadium on Saturday for a non-conference match with Wheeling Jesuit. Game time is 2 p.m.
