No. 2 Marauders Victorious on Yoder's Late Goal

Box Score

Buckhannon, W.Va.
 — Jeremy Yoder's header in the 86th minute found the back of the net and lifted the second-ranked Millersville men's soccer team to a 1-0 win over West Virginia Wesleyan on Sunday afternoon.

The first half revealed little, as the Marauders (15-1) and Bobcats (8-7-2) played a tightly contested 45 minutes with minimal scoring chances. MU outshot Wesleyan 6-3 in the first half and had two shots on goal to the home team's zero.

Yoder, who missed Millersville's game at Shepherd after picking up a red card against West Chester back on Oct. 16, got his game-winner off of a free-kick feed from Eric Pepper at 85:51. The timely goal proved to be the game's only offense of the afternoon. Wesleyan, which came into the game ranked 10th in the latest Atlantic Regional poll, had a late scoring attempt go wide.

Millersville keeper Matt Langione registered two saves to earn his 10th shutout of the season and helped the Marauders extend their school-record single-season shutout mark to 12. Langione's 10th shutout also broke a single-season record for shutouts in a season by a keeper, surpassing Ryan Schlegel's (2002) nine.

For the game, Millersville had 11 shot attempts, while the Bobcats fired 10. Andrew Baldasare made three saves in defeat for Wesleyan.

MU wraps up the regular season next Saturday with a PSAC East tilt at Shippensburg. The Marauders will be looking to cement their second straight undefeated PSAC East season.
