West Chester, Pa. – The Millersville men's soccer team opened up their 2008 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) eastern division schedule today by routing the golden rams of West Chester, 4-1.
The team was lead by a strong outing from midfielder #Matt Wilson# who tallied a goal in each half of the match to keep Millersville undefeated this season.
Forward #Kyle Loughlin# got the game started with a goal in the 12th minute to give the Marauders the lead. Assisting on the play was #Ryan Kiley#. The Marauders attacked the goal all game and outshot West Chester 21-5.
The Marauders continued to pressure the Golden Rams with Wilson scoring his first goal in the 15th minute of the match to give the Marauders the early 2-0 lead.
West Chester struck back with Matt Aunet taking a pass from Bryan Nugent and scoring in the 21st minute to get West Chester on the board.
The Millersville offense was just too much for West Chester as the Marauders scored two unanswered goals in the second half. Wilson tallied his second goal at the end of the 46th minute and freshman #Pat Buffato# knocked in an unassisted goal in the 67th minute to put the match out of reach.
The Golden Rams came into the season ranked just above Millersville in the pre season poll, getting the second nod to Millersville's third-place selection.
The Marauders are hoping to have continued success as they return home for four straight games at Chryst Field. The teams next match-up is Saturday at 7:30 p.m. as they will take on the Lions of Molloy University.
Saturday is youth soccer night and Millersville is encouraging youth players and entire teams to come to the contest wearing their club uniforms. Prior to the game, each team in attendance will be announced on the field. Other activities include halftime and postgame competitions.
